A new approach to a familiar washroom fixture
The original story began with a practical question about odour: instead of adding more fragrance, could the causes moving through washroom air be addressed continuously? That line of enquiry led to an enclosed treatment chamber integrated with a commercial hand dryer.
The resulting Sterillo Duo presented two independent jobs beneath one cover. Its dryer operated when hands were presented, while the separate chamber used convection to move room air around an enclosed UVC lamp and return it through the upper vents.
Coverage across national and specialist media
The launch attracted attention from national, healthcare, medical, facilities and cleaning publications. The Handy Dryers press archive lists coverage from the Daily Mail, Building Better Healthcare, News Medical, Custodial Review, the Sunday Post and a range of regional newspapers.
Several reports focused on the unusual combination of a familiar hand-drying fixture with a continuously operating room-air process. Others explored hand hygiene, washroom odour and the wider question of what happens after hands have been washed.
From launch concept to a two-product range
The original integrated format developed into today’s Sterillo Duo, while Sterillo Uno made the air-treatment chamber available as a standalone wall-mounted product for rooms where drying was already provided or where a different placement was required.
Both formats are now available in room-area variants and multiple finishes, allowing facilities and procurement teams to begin with the needs of the space before choosing the product configuration.
