Clean routinely
Sterillo complements established surface-cleaning procedures. It does not replace them.
by Handy DryersContact sales ↗Sterillo Duo + Sterillo Uno
An enclosed, separate UVC chamber continuously draws in and treats room air by convection while powered. Duo adds high-speed hand drying; Uno provides the chamber as a standalone unit.
Designed for shared environments
A missing layer
Washrooms are dynamic. Doors open, toilets flush and people arrive between scheduled cleans. Surface cleaning remains essential, but it does not continuously address what is moving through the room.
Sterillo adds an air-treatment process without adding another unfamiliar appliance or another behaviour for users.
Sterillo complements established surface-cleaning procedures. It does not replace them.
Room ventilation and air treatment have different jobs and should be specified together.
The separate treatment chamber operates continuously.
How it works
Interactive technical lens
The temperature difference created inside the enclosed module establishes convection, drawing room air into the base without a separate fan.
Hover, tap or tab through the annotations to explore the chamber.

Heat from the enclosed lamp creates convection, drawing room air into the separate treatment chamber.
The air moves through a chamber containing enclosed UVC technology, without a fan or extra motor.
Air returns through the top vents while the hand dryer remains ready to operate independently.
Sterillo is an additional environmental hygiene measure, not a medical device and not a substitute for cleaning, ventilation or infection-control procedures.
Independent controlled evaluation
A 2016 independent laboratory evaluation measured the reduction of germs achieved by Sterillo.
average removal efficiency after accounting for natural airborne reduction
The invention story
Why add another fragrance when you could investigate what causes the problem? That question led Handy Dryers managing director Stephen Levy from washroom odour to air treatment, and from a separate appliance to technology integrated into a fixture already on the wall.
“The original idea was simple: how do we get rid of smells in washrooms rather than just masking them, but actually get rid of them”
Stephen Levy, Managing Director

Straight answers
No. It is an additional air-treatment measure. Established cleaning, appropriate ventilation and infection-control procedures remain essential.
It tested airborne Staphylococcus epidermidis NCTC 11047 in a controlled one-cubic-metre chamber, using three active runs and three unit-off controls.
No. Occupied washrooms differ in volume, ventilation, use, placement and contaminant replenishment. Sterillo is available with different UV-C lamp sizes to suit different washroom sizes and requirements.
No. They are separate functions. The treatment chamber operates continuously while powered; the dryer activates when hands are presented.
Routine maintenance is straightforward and follows many of the same principles as other commercial hand dryers. Periodic cleaning of the unit, checking air inlets and following the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule will help ensure reliable performance. The UV-C lamp needs to be replaced once a year.
